TEHRAN, Jul. 19 (MNA) – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari arrived in Damascus on Tuesday night to hold talks with Syrian officials.

Jaberi Ansari traveled to Syria to attend the fifth meeting of the Joint Political Committee of Iran and Syria and to review the latest developments in the region as well as bilateral cooperation.

He is also scheduled to meet with Syrian senior officials to exchange views on bilateral and regional issues.

The previous visit of Jaberi Ansari to Damascus was held on January, 2017, when he met with President Bashar al-Assad, Prime Minister Imad Khamis and Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad to discuss the latest developments in Syria and the region.
