TEHRAN, Jul. 11 (MNA) – Parliament's General Director for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian noted that liberation of Mosul had several important messages for the world.

The official, while extending congratulations on Mosul liberation to political, religious leaders and people of Iraq, underlined that the worthy achievement sent out a number of significant messages to the international community.

“The first message pertains to terrorists, ISIL in particular, who, despite covert and overt regional and international support, suffered a humiliating defeat against people of Iran who appeared in the scene under guidance of their political and religious leaders. Hashd al-Shaabi popular group were also able to obtain victories alongside armed forces of the neighboring country,” he stressed.

Amir-Abdollahian said the second message was that, unity in Iraq can bring about greatest victories for its people especially in view of the fact that Iraqi developments have face several ups and downs in the past decade.

The third point vis-a-vis Mosul liberation is that Iraq remains a very influential state in the region and post-ISIL developments will offer the opportunity of returning to normal conditions as well as playing a major role in resolving regional crises.

Parliament's general director for international affairs warned that ceasefire should never turn into an opportunity for terrorist groups in Syria to revitalize; “political solution needs to become center of attention in Syria; to this end, all sides need to comply with the ceasefire.”

He reiterated that in recent years, whenever the issue of ceasefire is raised, the Syrian government has proved its commitment while armed groups and foreign-backed terrorists have failed to show their adherence to the issue.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said the idea of ceasefire in various areas of Syria could prove a positive measure for strengthening the political process; nevertheless, the concern exists that some activists are seeking to take advantage of these local and regional ceasefires to help terrorist revitalize and to pursue their own objectives.

He emphasized that the ultimate decision needs to be taken by the Syrian people adding “the government, the army and the Syrian people have gained precious victories in the fight against ISIL as the achievements in Aleppo and Mosul are considered as common success for the two governments of Iraq and Syria and for the popular forces of the two countries.”
