TEHRAN, Jun. 19 (MNA) – Iran’s FM spokesman Ghasemi said Sunday’s missile attack on ISIL terrorists and their bases in Syria’s Deir Ezzor was in line with national security and with reliance on national defense capabilities.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said IRGC’s missile attack on Takfiri terrorists’ bases in Deir Ezzor, eastern Syria, was a ‘decisive’ and ‘timely’ response to the terrorist attacks on Tehran, adding that the strikes were carried out with prior knowledge of Syrian government.

Ghasemi warned Takfiri-terrorist groups and their sponsors of consequences of their measures against Iran, adding “the Islamic Republic will not be appeased in the face of any destabilizing act that would endanger the country’s national security. Iran’s reactions to such moves will be decisive, timely and wise.”

The Iranian diplomat further stressed that Tehran’s policy is based on cooperation with regional countries and international community for eradication of terrorism and extremism, adding “we will respond firmly to any threat or aggression against the country by using our military capabilities.”

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif responded to the missile strikes in a tweet on Sunday, saying “Iran's missile capability protects its citizens in lawful self-defense and advances common global fight to eradicate ISIS and extremist terror.”
