TEHRAN, May 06 (MNA) – National Iranian beach handball team left Tehran for Pattaya on Friday eveing to participate in Asian Men’s Beach Handball Championship 2017.

The Iranian outfit left the country for Thailand on May 06 in order to compete at the sixth edition of the Asian event which will also mark a qualifying tournament for Beach Handball World Championships.

Iran’s hopes are pinned on Mehdi Khoshghadam, Masoud Mohseni, Milad Hamidi, Rasoul Dehghan, Omid Sekenari, Vahid Arabzadeh, Amirhossein Salemi, Abbas Assadzadeh, Amin Kazemi, Pouria Gholipour, Mahdi Razaghpour and Seyed Shahriar Hosseini.

Seyed Hassan Eftekhari will lead Iranian beach handball players as the head coach, Nadali Zakaei and Mahdi Ghashghaei as coaches as well as Hasan Ayien Jamshid as supervisor.

Iran has been drawn in Group B along with host Thailand, Vietnam, the UAE and Afghanistan. Qatar, Oman, Uzbekistan and Chinese Taipei are in Group A.

The 6th Asian Men’s Beach Handball Championship is scheduled to be held during May 8-15 in Pattaya, Thailand.

Also, the top three teams will book their places in the Beach Handball World Championships which will be held in Sochi, Russia in 2018.

Beach Handball World Championship is a biennial competition for women and men national teams. It was first organized by the International Handball Federation in 2004.
