TEHRAN, May. 01 (MNA) – Reza Alipour has managed to establish a new world record to secure the title at Climbing World Cup 2017 in China.

The 23-year-old Iranian rock climber participated in the men’s speed record category competitions in the ​International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) games in the Chinese city of Nanjing and registered 5.48 seconds to stand on top of the podium and claim the gold medal.

Alipour bettered Ukraine’s Danyil Boldyrev world record of 5.60 seconds, and outshined it by 0.12 seconds.

Aleksandr Shikov of Russia clocked 5.61 seconds to finished second secure the silver medal followed by his compatriot Vladislav Deulin who bagged the bronze medal with 7.36 seconds.

The IFSC Climbing World Cup 2017 started in China on April 29 and wrapped up the following day.

The tournament was held in women’s bouldering, women’s speed, men’s bouldering and men’s speed sections.
