Head of Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) Mohammad Javad Dehghani said the production growth of Iran’s scientific papers in the top one percent of the world has reached 41% in 2016. According to ISC reports, the number of papers produced in Iran reached 2222 in 2015.
“Top one percent papers comprise one percent of world’s papers with 18 percent of world’s citations; in other words, these scientific papers are used by researchers all across the world more than any other paper,” Dehghani explained.
According to him, after Iran, India has had the highest growth rate with 21 percent. Brazil with 16 percent and Poland with 9 percent growth rank third and fourth in the world.
The number of Iran’s scientific papers in the top one percent reached 312 in 2016, which places the country in the 21st ranking. Only Iran and Saudi Arabia out of all Islamic and regional countries have been placed among the producers of top one percent papers.
