Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi made the remarks in a meeting with Latvian deputy FM Andrejs Pildegovics here on Tuesday.
Pildegovics stressed the will of his country to develop relations with Iran in the areas of priority including in transportation, energy, technology, information, agriculture, food industry, forestry, tourism, education and fisheries.
He also noted the importance of the relations with Iran saying, bilateral ties have witnessed growth during the last three years.
Latvia in order to facilitate the development of relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran has taken the first step to introduce Honorary Consul, Pildegovics underlined.
Pointing to the visit of Latvian foreign minister to Iran in 2014, Pildegovics said it indicates Latvia's determination to expand ties with Iran, and stressed that the transactions between the two countries has entered a new phase after Foreign Minister Javad Zarif visited Latvia.
Takht-Ravanchi also announced Iran's readiness to develop cooperation in the political, cultural and economic fields with Latvia, saying his country has a large capacity and is willing to cooperate with European Union and European countries.
He underlined that in the meantime JCPOA is able to provide the proper atmosphere for the purpose.
