TEHRAN, Mar.  27 (MNA) – President Rouhani in meeting with Russian PM Medvedev has described ties between Tehran and Moscow expanding.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani who arrived in Moscow this evening on official invitation by President Putin, met with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on his first day of visit to the northern neighbor.

President Rouhani expressed hope in the meeting that “in this visit, we can observe new development in expanding ties between the two countries in political, economic, cultural and international issues.”

Touching upon regional and global issues in which Iran and Russia have had constructive cooperation, he asserted that “there is no doubt cooperation between the two countries positively impacts stability and security in region and in world.”

Russian PM for his part began his words with congratulating Iranian New Year, Nowruz, to President Rouhani and Iranian nation and emphasized on Moscow’s steadfastness in boosting its ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all areas.

Medvedev underlined President Rouhani’s visit as a significant step in development of relations; “currently, good atmosphere dominates relations between two capitals and no doubt, this visit can significantly help better, deeper ties between Tehran and Moscow.”

President Rouhani is scheduled to meet with his Russian counterpart President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday and he will also talk to academicians in Moscow state universities where he will also receive an honorary doctorate.
