The Iranian outfit is scheduled to face Qatari rivals on March 23 in Doha’s Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium. As such, the Persians departed for the capital of the Arab state in the south of Persian Gulf on Sunday morning.
Iran’s hopes are pinned on the 23 players invited by Carlos Queiroz, Portuguese manager of Iran's national football team.
National Iranian football outfit therefore comprises Mohammadreza Akhbari, Alireza Beiranvand, Mohammad Rashid Mazaheri, Ramin Rezaeian, Pouria Ghafouri, Pejman Montazeri, Seyed Jalal Hosseini, Morteza Pourali Ganji, Ezatollah Pourghaz, Mohammad Ansari, Milad Mohammadi, Ehsan Hajisafi, Omid Ebrahimi, Saeid Ezatollahi, Ali Karimi, Masoud Shojaei, Vahid Amiri, Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Mehdi Taromi, Reza Ghuchannejad, Karim Ansarifard, Sasan Ansari as well as Sardar Azmoun.
Iranian football players will later take up Chinese rivals on 28th March, 2017 in Azadi Stadium.
