TEHRAN, Feb. 10 (MNA) – In a ceremony held in Azeri capital city of Baku, the38th anniversary of the victory of the Iranian Islamic Revolution of 1979 was celebrated on Thursday.

The event was attended by numerous officials, intellectuals, reporters and journalists, academic, economic, social, and cultural figures of the Republic of Azerbaijan along with diplomats, ambassadors, military attachés and economic and political representatives of other countries residing in Baku.

“The Islamic Revolution of 1979 was one of the major events of the contemporary history of the human society with significant influences on the region and the world,” said Javad Jahangirzadeh, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran addressing the ceremony.

He maintained that the main goal of the Islamic revolution was to preserve human integrity, enhance moral values, and support the underprivileged classes of the society along with fight against terrorism and extremism.

The Iranian diplomat boasted that despite the “unfair and unjust sanctions” against Iran, and different challenges imposed, Iran has never abandoned its scientific programs and important accomplishments have been achieved in areas of nuclear energy, pharmaceutics, air-and space, industry, and new technologies.

Azeri Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev who also chairs Iran-Azerbaijan joint economic commission was one of the guests of the event who addressed the participants and hailed the economic cooperation between the neighboring countries.
