Speaking at a meeting with the visiting Belarusian delegation in Tehran, Mohammad Khazaei, President of the Organization for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran (OIETAI), pointed to the low level of economic and trade transactions between the two sides saying “the two sides need to take more serious steps in elevation of trade and economic collaborations.”
The official noted that the current volume of trade turnover between the two countries stood at nearly 40 million dollars per year stressing “the first meeting of a working group should be held in near future in order to seek venues for multilateral cooperation.”
OIETAI head deemed industrial investment, privatization and joint cooperation between Iranian and Belarusian firms in the form of joint venture in other countries as possible areas for reinvigoration of relations between Iran and Belarus.
Khazaei expressed hope that the joint session will prepare a practical and executive plan in areas of interest.
Later at the meeting, Director of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization of Belarus Natalia Nikandrova expressed satisfaction towards the meeting and emphasized the need to boost economic ties between Tehran and Minsk.
He invited OIETAI Head Khazaei to visit the National Agency of Investment and Privatization of Belarus together with Iranian industrialists and investors.
At the end of the session, a document of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the joint committee of investment was inked between Iran and Belarus.
