Saleh said on Saturday in a meeting with Nourian that Indonesia and Iran should assume strategic roles in resolving the problem of Palestine.
Nourian submitted Ali Larijani's invitation letter to Saleh to attend the Sixth International Conference on Supporting Intifada due in Tehran, which was welcomed by Indonesian official. "I will attend the event to declare my country's practical support for the Palestinian nation," he said.
He stressed that Indonesia backs Iran’s role in realization of the rights and independence of Palestine.
Contributing to development of Iran-Indonesia ties is part of the Regional Representatives Council’s responsibility, he said, noting that President Joko Widodo was satisfied with the results of agreements made during his visit to Tehran.
Iranian envoy Nourian, for his part, underlined the new environment during post-sanctions era has created suitable conditions for expanding ties between Iran and the world.
He noted that Iran’s priority is to promote cooperation with Islamic states, including Indonesia as the most populated Muslim country in the world.
"The Muslim world is suffering from a cancerous tumor called Zionist regime and the Palestinian people are under the tyranny of the regime," he stressed.
