TEHRAN, Jan. 30 (MNA) – Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement noting the investigations underway for the presence of US wrestling delegation in Iran.

The United States freestyle wrestling team is scheduled to participate in a World Cup competition in Kermanshah province, Iran, on February 16-17.

The statement reads that necessary decisions will be taken over the presence or absence of American team in the 2017 Wrestling World Cup - Men's freestyle.

Following media speculations over the presence of US national wrestling team in the Wrestling World Cup slated for February 16-17, Foreign Ministry said according to the statement issued on Saturday and to protect and defend the rights of Iranian nationals, the relevant decisions will be made in collaboration with related committees.

A Foreign Ministry statement on Saturday also said it would stop US citizens from entering the country in retaliation to Washington’s visa ban against Iran and six other majority-Muslim countries. “While respecting the American people and distinguishing between them and the hostile policies of the US government, Iran will implement the principle of reciprocity until the offensive US limitations against Iranian nationals are lifted."
