THERAN, Jan. 17 (MNA) – VP Is'hagh Jahangiri has told a joint press conference with Syrian PM Imad Khamis Resistance contributed to Syrian success on the ground.

On Tuesday, Mr. Jahangiri and Khamis attended a press conference after a meeting in Saadabad Palace. VP credited Syrian nation with the feat of helping its legitimate government in tackling the terrorism to which Iran and Resistance front also contributed; “coordination and regular contacts between Iran and Syria will help preserve the achievements out in the field; to rebuild Syria and to revive the hard-hit economy of the country, we should exchange delegations in both capitals,” he told the press. “Iran-Syria ties had been strong since the time of late Hafiz al-Assad, with Imam Khomeini as founder of the cordial relations with Syrian government.”

Jahangiri believed the west was behind the terrorism and mercenaries fighting the legitimate government in Damascus and had been exemplary in savagery an violence unleashed by these petty terrorists; “Iran’s government had been supporting Syria against this background; we congratulate Syrian government and nation on Aleppo success; in meeting with Mr. Khamis, we signed 5 MoUs which will be a good start for trade between the two countries; on the new situation, Iran’s private sector would go to Syria enjoying credit lines allocated to trade and industrial activity in Syria; we encourage exporters to join with the plan to market their goods in the country,” said the VP.

Mr. Khamis’ next visit will be to President Rouhani later on Tuesday.
