TEHRAN, Jan. 14 (MNA) – Deputy FMs of Iran, Russia and Turkey held a trilateral meeting in Moscow on Fri. discussing the arrangements for the upcoming Astana meeting on Syrian situation.

Following his meeting with Secretary General of European External Action Service (EEAS) Helga Schmid in Brussels and other talks in Geneva on Wednesday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari arrived in Moscow on Friday where he held a bilateral meeting with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Bogdanov, followed by a trilateral meeting with their Turkish counterpart Ahmet Unal Cevikoz.

During the meetings, the sides conferred on arrangements for the upcoming Astana meeting that will be held between Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the developments in Syria and talks on making further efforts to arrive at an agreement about the future of the war-torn country.

Astana meeting is scheduled to convene on 23 January hosted by Kazakh government and attended by representatives from Syrian government and the opposition groups. Iran, Turkey, Russia and UN representative will observe the meeting.

The meeting comes in the wake of the liberation of Aleppo and aiming at strengthening the political process and coordinating efforts for combating terrorism and establishing stability and peace in Syria.

The three deputy foreign ministers agreed to continue their talks for a successful holding of Astana meeting and helping with putting an end to the Syrian crisis.
