Manager of South Pars Phases 15 and 16 Reza Forouzesh announced that pipeline 32 for gas transmission from the offshore platform to onshore refinery has been damaged.
“Presently, gas emissions from the marine pipeline are under control and the incident will be soon harnessed,” reassured the official adding “in the current situation, technical and operational teams have launched the process to repair the damaged gas pipeline.”
He emphasized that gas production had come to a temporary halt as for the repairing process; “causes of the accident are being investigated and will be announced soon.”
Despite the pause in production of gas at Phase 16, refinery complex of Phases 15 and 16 are still operating by receiving feedstock from other South Pars platforms.
Development of Phases 15 and 16 aims to reach a daily output of 50 million cubic meters of natural gas, 80 thousand barrels of gas condensate, 400 tons of sulfur in addition to production of one million tons of ethane and 1.05 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Offshore facilities of Phases 15 and 16 in South Pars comprise two drilling platforms each containing 11 wells, two 32-inch submarine gas transmission pipelines with an approximate length of 115 kilometers as well as two 4.5-inch pipelines for transferring glycol with a length of about 115 kilometers.
