TEHRAN, Dec. 26 (MNA) – ‘Velayat Sky-7’ military drill started on Monday in southern provinces of Iran on the order of Brig. Gen. Farzad Esmaili.

Codenamed "The Defenders of Velayat Sky-7", the drill aims at coordinating the different divisions of air defense of Army, IRGC and Armed Forces during a three-day maneuver.

The drill is to cover over an area measuring 496,000 square kilometers (308,000 square miles) throughout Iran’s southern, southeastern, and southwestern parts in two stages.

Joint control over a variety of defense apparatuses including radar, missile, artillery, communication and electronic surveillance systems in different positions would take place at the first stage.

The maneuver also includes synthesis of Army and IRGC air defense systems in terms of electronic war.

The drill is being hold by around 17,000 military forces and personnel.

This is the 7th military drill held by Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base within an 8-year period since its establishment.
