TEHRAN, Dec. 18 (MNA) – Iran, Russia and Turkey will hold a trilateral meeting in Moscow on the Syrian situation on Dec. 20 instead of the previously scheduled date for Dec. 27.

The meeting had been scheduled for December 27 on an initiative from Iran, but advanced to Tuesday, December 23, during talks between Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in a telephone conversation on Saturday afternoon.

The two sides further conferred on the latest developments in Syria, particularly the situation in the hotspot Aleppo province, and agreed to reschedule the trilateral meeting to an earlier date due to recent developments.

Also on Friday, Zarif and his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, in their latest out of several telephone conversations in recent days, mulled over safe exit of civilians from Aleppo as well as the ceasefire which came into force on Wednesday evening.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a telephone conversation with Syrian President Bashar Assad on Thursday congratulated him on the liberation of Aleppo, underlining Iran’s support for Syria until the complete evacuation of terrorists from this country.
