Speaking to reporters on Friday, Kuwaiti Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Khaled al-Jarallah made the announcement stressing that his country will represent the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) in the negotiations; “no specific time has been envisaged for mutual meetings though messages on views of PGCC are being transferred between the two parties.”
Previously during a recent meeting of Persian Gulf Arab leaders in Manama, Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad had called for holding constructive talks with Iran in line with mutual respect and non-interference in one another's internal affairs in an attempt to enhance regional stability.
He had underlined that Kuwait had received messages from Iran on launching consultations with PGCC over regional issues and had been put in charge by the Council to hold talks with Iran.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Ambassador to Kuwait Alireza Enayati had deemed Kuwaiti Emir's remarks on dialogue with Tehran as an influential measure towards elevation of regional stability; “presently, the region is more in dire need of collaboration and adopting common stances against internal and foreign challenges.”
He praised Kuwait’s stance on dialogue with Iran given that similar approaches would leave a positive impact on bilateral ties in future.
“Dialogue and negotiation are always effective as evidenced in nuclear talks between Iran and Western countries where the Iranian side, despite numerous challenges, managed to convince the global community that its nuclear activities were peaceful,” the Iranian ambassador continued.
