TEHRAN, Dec. 04 (MNA) – CEO of Telecommunication Infrastructure Company of Iran (TIC) in a meeting with a Russian delegation has called for Russia’s further cooperation in Europe-Persia Express Gateway (EPEG).

The CEO of Telecommunication Infrastructure Company of Iran (TIC), Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi, held a meeting on Saturday in Tehran with Deputy Head of Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, Rashid Ismailov, and his accompanying 26-strong delegation from Russia’s private and public sectors.

During the meeting, Azari Jahromi called for further cooperation from the consortium parties in the Europe-Persia Express Gateway (EPEG).  

Europe-Persia Express Gateway (EPEG) signed on June 8, 2011 by a consortium of four leading telecom carriers from four countries will be a brand new high capacity fiber optic cable system which links Europe with the Middle East and a possibility of further extension to Persian Gulf regional countries and the Indian subcontinent. The four telecom carriers include Rostelecom, Omantel, TIC, and Vodafone.

Azari Jahromi further highlighted the significance of the agreements signed between Iran and Russia in the previous visits of the two countries’ officials, expressing hope that the decisions would be put into effect as soon as possible.

The Russian Deputy Head of Communications, for his part, deemed the major objective of his visit to follow up on the agreements reached within the framework of bilateral activities, adding “given the capabilities of Russian companies and the long history of cooperation with Iran in various fields, mutual cooperation on ICT will be further expanded between the two countries.”

Ismailov further introduced the various services of Russian companies in the fields of network management, spectrum management, Internet content production, establishing mobile virtual network operators (MVNO), and positioning systems.
