A type of protein called ‘Apolipoprotein A1’ has been recently identified as reducing the rate of success for the embryo being accepted in the endometrium.
Iranian researchers at Royan Institute have ran an experiment during which the amount of Apolipoprotein A1 expressed on RNA and protein has been measured and compared in 10 healthy women and 15 women suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome.
The results of the research published in the international magazine ‘Research in Medical Sciences’ show that the expression of Apolipoprotein A1 in women with polycystic ovary syndrome is significantly higher than healthy women.
On the other hand, in healthy women, the amount of the expression of this protein is different in various stages of menstrual cycle, and reaches its minimum level when uterus is ready to accept the embryo. Results of the research reveal that higher amount of this protein is one of the causes of infertility in women suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome.
Further research can lead to finding a solution to control the amount of Apolipoprotein A1 and treat this condition.
