TEHRAN, Nov. 17 (MNA) – The Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) awarded two Iranian films with its best prizes.

Best Director and Best Actress Award of the Indian event was granted to Mahtab Keramati and Hassan Barzideh, actress and director of Iranian feature movie Mazar Sharif.

Saba Mahdavi also won the Award for Best Child Artist for her acting in Ranna's Silence directed by Behzad Rafiee.

Mazar Sharif and Ranna’s Silence are both products of Surah Cinema Development Organization.

Mazar Sharif recounts the story of invasion by Taliban of Iran’s consulate in the city of the same name and the killing of diplomats in the consulate by Taliban fighters.

Ranna’s Silence is about a seven-year-old girl, Ranna, and her hen, Kakoli which is hunted on a rainy day by a jackal.

Chennai International Independent Film Festival, CIIFF in Tamilnadu of India is an initiative to encourage and promote Independent Film makers all around the world.
