Seyed Reza Nowbakhti, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Abidjan, the capital city of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), met with Mr. Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly, the Ivorian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, on Thursday.
The two sides in the meeting hailed the growing status of economic and agricultural cooperation between Iran and the Ivory Coast and called for more expansion of ties in these areas.
Referring to the importance of agriculture in the economy of the African country, Iranian ambassador to Abidjan voiced the willingness of the Iranian economic entities to broaden joint projects in Côte d’Ivoire in areas of extra-territorial cultivation, mechanization of agriculture, exchange of experience, private sector investment in processing cocoa, establishment of cultivation centers, and holding training courses.
Cocoa, coffee, timber and related products, petroleum and petrochemical products, cotton and textiles, bananas, pineapples, palm oil and fish are the exporting products of Côte d'Ivoire while it imports gasoline and diesel products, food and health products which are mostly supplied by the two countries of China and France and sometimes by neighboring countries.
