Iranian beach soccer players entertained Tahiti in the semifinal phase of the tournament on Friday evening in Dubai city of the UAE where the Persian side pulled out an 8-6 victory over the French Polynesian squad.
Akbari managed to find the net for the Iranian outfit for three times while Mesigar and Ahmadzadeh scored two goals each.
Prior to the showdown, all athletes and sports fans present held a minute of silence to pay tribute to the legendary Iranian football player and coach Mansour Pourheydari who passed away on Friday.
Iran had previously earned three wins over the USA, Egypt and Russia in the group stage before facing Tahiti in the semifinals.
In the other semifinal fixture, Brazil handed a humiliating 7-0 defeat to Russian players to secure a place at the final round.
Accordingly, Iran will take up Brazil on Saturday evening in an attempt to win the title at the sixth edition of Beach Soccer International Cup.
Five editions of Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup have been held so far since the year 2011 and the Iranian outfit won the title in 2013 while they finished fourth two years ago in 2014.
The competition marks one of the most prestigious in the sport’s calendar and is being competed from November 1st until November 5th with some of the best teams from each continent going head to head for the title.
