Following the group stage of the tournament, a total of four Asian clubs found their ways to the semifinals.
In Group A, El Jaish of Qatar ranked first while Iran’s Gachsaran Oil and Gas handball club landed second and both teams cruised to the next round.
Al-Noor of Saudi Arabia and Lekhwiya handball team of Qatar out powered their rivals in the preliminary round to get tickets to the semifinals.
On Thursday, the Jordanian city of Amman will host two semifinal showdowns the first one to be competed between two Qatari title hopefuls Lekhwiya and El Jaish.
Also, handball players of Gachsaran Oil and Gas club are scheduled to entertain Saudi Arabia’s Al-Noor in the second leg of the decisive round.
On Saturday, the Iranian side was held to a 35-all draw against the Emirati team in a close and thrilling Group A encounter staged in the Jordanian capital city of Amman.
Later, however, they conceded a 28-37 defeat against El Jaish from Qatar in its second group stage match on Sunday.
On the third day of the sportive event, the Persian side earned a sweeping 26-23 victory over Jordan’s al-Ahli to become a semifinalist.
The 19th edition of Asian Men’s Club League Championship kicked off in Amman, Jordan, on October 29 and will run until November 5, 2016.
Iran’s Gachsaran Oil and Gas handball club is drawn in Group A alongside El Jaish, Al Jazira and Jordan’s al-Ahli while Group B comprises Lekhwiya handball team of Qatar, Bahrain’s al-Ahli club, al-Noor of Saudi Arabia and Ahli Sidab club from Oman.
