Earlier on July, the 1060 Court of Government Employers heard the case against the 21 defendants during an episode in 2015 where Saudi embassy went alight by a group of anti-Saudi protesters angered by the assassination by the kingdom of Nimr Mohammad Biqir Nimr, an outspoken critic of Saudi Arabia. The Judge Farshid Dehghani told reporters on Tuesday that the court had received defense statements of the defendants; “one of the embassy attackers was a student of the Seminary School, whose case should have been heard by Especial Court of Clerics; the verdict however will be issued by 10 days, and will be appealed within 20 days of the issuance,” he added.
“The case has another group of 24 member of defendants and the Especial Court of Clerics will hear their case. That court will give verdict within a week according to lawyers of the defendants,” Dehghani detailed.
