During the telephone conversation on Tuesday afternoon, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif brought his German counterpart Frank Walter-Steinmeier up-to-date on the latest developments in region, particularly Syria.
The two sides also conferred on bilateral relations.
Zarif also held separate phone talks with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenders on Syrian crisis.
Iran recently participated at a multilateral meeting on Syria crisis settlement in the Swiss city of Lausanne, attended by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, US State Secretary John Kerry, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan De Mistura, as well as foreign ministers of Qatar, Iraq, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. The talks did not result in a breakthrough, but the sides will follow up discussions in further sessions in hopes of a more fruitful outcome.
