Navy General Afshin Rezaei Haddad told reporters on Tuesday that arrival of foreign naval fleets was a regular practice and convention to communicate messages of peace; “Russian fleets regularly pay visit to Iranian ports to which we responded with dispatch of fleets to Astrakhan earlier in September,” he added. “Exchange of fleets in regular basis is a priority for the Northern Fleet, and we had been receiving fleets of Caspian littoral countries, to communicate our message of peace and friendship as the Navy’s duty and to have flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran fly in the coasts of the neighboring countries.”
Rezaei Haddad also said that more fleets from Caspian littoral countries would arrive in northern porters and the 4th Navy Zone beginning in late October; “the Navy works to secure the Caspian Sea as a sea for peace, mutual respect and good-neighborliness; naval fleet exchanges also seeks to improve friendship of 5 littoral countries,” he told the press.
