TEHRAN, Oct. 01 (MNA) – Iran’s female taekwondo practitioners won gold medal in Teams F Over 30 division at the 10th WTF World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships underway in Peru.

The second day of the sportive event came to an end in the Peruvian capital of Lima with Iranian having bagged three colorful medals.

Iran’s female outfit, comprising Atusa Farahmand, Sona Razaghi and Fariba Nazmdeh, earned 7.97 points to stand on top of the podium. Americans finished vice-champion and Finland stood in the third place.

Also, Ali Salmani of Iran scooped the silver medal of Individuals M Under 40 category with 8.20 points. A contestant from the Philippines won the title while South Korean and American athletes jointly stood on the third podium.

National Iranian Men’s poomsae, meanwhile, shared a bronze medal with South Korea. The Iranian squad consisted of Mohammad Taghi Hatami, Ali Salmani and Mahdi Samadian who secured 7.84 points. The Philippines won the gold medal in the same category while Turkey finished second.

Previously on the first day of the event, Iran’s Sepehr Abdi had conceded a defeat against Mexico’s William Arroyo in the final encounter of individual male Cadet division and clinched a silver medal. Santiago Aguirre Flores of the host country Peru won bronze along with Jae-wook Yoon from Korea.

The 10th WTF World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships got underway in Lima, Peru on September 29 with the world’s best athletes from seven divisions across five age categories competing for gold.
