“South Africa is expecting Mr. Rouhani’s visit,” said South African Deputy Foreign Minister Nomaindiya Mfeketo at the banquet honoring the arrival of Hossein Jaberi Ansari, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs, in Pretoria late on Wednesday.
The South African diplomat warmly welcomed his Iranian counterpart and reviewed a history of bilateral friendly relations between the two countries referring to last year’s visit of South African president and officials to Tehran.
The Iranian diplomat also for his part highlighted the importance of ties with South Africa for the Islamic Republic of Iran and underlined that it was the first country of Africa he has traveled after assuming the position of deputy foreign minister. He voiced hope to see President Rouhani’s visit to South Africa in the nearest future.
Hossein Jaberi Ansari is visiting the African country to attend the seventh session of the joint political commission of the two countries of Iran and South Africa.
