The head of IST2016 Mahmoud Kamarei elaborated on the objectives to hold the event during a press conference on Saturday.
"International Symposium on Telecommunications (IST2016) is being held every two years since 2006, aiming to provide research achievements in the field of telecommunications by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology," Kamarei noted, adding the executive arm of the organization of the event is Iran Telecommunication Research Center (ITRC).
Pointing to seven previous successful symposiums, Kamarei underlined "the event will seek to provide an opportunity for Iranian and foreign experts to share views; some 410 scientific articles from 10 countries including the US, Canada, Italy, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Ireland, Germany and Iran have been submitted to the conference, among which 167 articles will be presented in six meetings."
IST2016 is the eighth in a series of biannual events organized by ICT Research Institute (ITRC) and designed to provide an opportunity for academicians and specialists in the international telecom community, to meet peers in Iran to have exchanges on the latest developments in emerging technologies, as well as progress in standards, services and applications in information and communication systems. The symposium will feature keynotes by world-renowned speakers, contributed papers, panels, special sessions and tutorials.
