TEHRAN, Sep. 07 (MNA) – President of the French National Assembly said Wed. that countries in the region and the world all need to have Iran back at the international scene.

Claude Bartolone, President of the French National Assembly, made the remark in a meeting with Adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ali Akbar Velayati, here in the Iranian capital on Wednesday.

He went on to add, “we are aware that our visit to Iran has come at a significant point in time, when the Islamic Republic’s relations with the world have entered a new phase following Iran’s nuclear agreement in Vienna.”

Bartolone referred to his meetings with President Hassan Rouhani, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, and a number of other senior Iranian officials during his four-day stay, adding “the basis of our meetings in Iran is to show the international community that all parties to the nuclear negotiations in Vienna will remain fully committed to the deal.”

He further noted the many cases in need of international cooperation, adding “we must implement all provisions of the nuclear deal, because if we want to settle any international cases such as corruption, money-laundering, terrorism, or drug trafficking, we first need to observe all the provisions of the nuclear deal.”

Ali Akbar Velayati, for his part, said that both Iran and France are strongly against the scourge of terrorism, adding “if the meetings and exchange of views continue, the perceptions of the two countries about terrorism and ways to fight it will become closer to one another.”

“France has a long-standing presence in Syria and Lebanon, and Iran too has a good influence in these countries, thus the two sides can cooperate to end the devastating conflicts there,” he said.

Velayati went on to add, “we are of the opinion that France needs to have its own independent policies in the region, and we will help the country on this, provided that the territorial integrity of other states is fully protected.”
