During a meeting held at Iran’s Embassy in Sofia on Thursday, Abdollah Norouzi held talks with Mariya Gabriel, the head of EU mission in Bulgaria, where the two sides stressed the need for increasing bilateral relations and employing the capacities of the European Union for further joint cooperation.
Gabriel, who has been selected as a member of the European Parliament for the second time, has a good knowledge of the historical and cultural position of Iran to the extent that the efforts of the ‘hypocrites’ in influencing her opinion have proved futile.
Norouzi, for his part, presented Gabriel with a report on Iran’s key position in the Middle East, especially after the implementation of the nuclear deal dubbed JCPOA and the lift of anti-Iranian sanctions.
Gabriel is a member of the biggest faction in the European Parliament, the decisions and conclusions of which are highly important and influential in various issues, particularly in regard to the relations of the EU with Iran.
Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the light of the post-JCPOA era, has attributed special attention and a guideline for the development of relations between the country’s embassies with EU member states which can be very effective in further cementing of ties between Iran and the European Union.
