Mahmoud Vaezi’s visit to South Korea highlights new vistas for Iran’s information technology as an untapped market by any EU and US IT companies; the country has sought her odds of success in the east instead, with electronic giant Samsung Co. having strong footholds in Iran and a good reputation among the consumers of its household appliances.
Vaezi met with JK Shin director of Samsung Strategy and Innovation Center on Thursday during his visit to the center. He told Shin that he had been to Seoul to address Tehran agreements signed when President Park Geun-hye visited Tehran earlier in May and to improve cooperation in ICT, ensuring the Korean official that grounds had been excellent for any joint ventures and establishment of new R and D centers; “with extended cooperation in ICT and in post-JCPOA era, Iran welcomes Korean electronics companies to play more effective role in communication infrastructures,” he added. “In upstream industries as well cooperation should be based on joint investments and manufacturing of electronic products.”
Mr. Shin, for his part, said that the advancements in ICT had been a child of a natural needs to develop in the lack of any natural resources in the country; “it has been inevitable that Koreans invest and work on ICT in the road to building infrastructures of economy; now, we work with the world to bring them new technological innovations and achievements and welcome developing ties with Iran as well,” he added.
