Mohammad Javad Zarif began another round of his international tours by first visiting Cuba, and then Ecuador, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Chile and Bolivia looking to further expand the country's political and economic ties with the Latin region.
The chief diplomat is leading a large economic delegation of approximately 120 businessmen, traders and entrepreneurs of public and private sectors on the trip and is expected to sign contracts in the fields of oil, energy, maritime, and transport.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said that Zarif’s tour would be in terms of strengthening political and economic relations with Latin American countries.
“Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strategically supports balanced look towards all countries and geographic areas according to its policies. Strengthening relations with neighboring and Islamic countries as well as comprehensive development of relations with Latin American and African states have always been a priority according to the Islamic Republic's foreign policy,” Ghasemi reiterated.
A great number of businessmen, corporations, and traders have taken advantage of the situation during the post-sanctions era and the implementation of historic nuclear deal, Ghasemi added.
The Iranian minister will wrap up his visit to Latin America on August 27.
