TEHRAN, Aug. 14 (MNA) – Russian Ambassador to Iran Levan Jagarian said on Sat. that Tehran and Moscow hold broad defense cooperation and will keep it especially regarding the Syrian issue.

In an interview with Rossiya Segodnya on Saturday, Jagarian said Iran as a member of pro-Syrian international group, has active cooperation with Russia on Syrian crisis.

"Tehran and Moscow keep relations based on trust in the framework of pro-Syrian international group. On the other hand, regular consultations between the two countries on the Middle East affairs also demonstrates their close and constructive cooperation," Jagarian noted.

He underlined that Iran and Russia call for an end to the armed conflict in Syria as soon as possible and to destroy terrorist groups. He hoped for the spread of stability in Syria through joint efforts.

Russian ambassador noted that the file for the delivery of the S-300 air defense system to Iran is completed, adding Tehran and Moscow have established close cooperation in defense and military area.
