TEHRAN, Aug. 12 (MNA) – The second karate competitions of Asia (SKI) started in Ardebil on Thursday with attendance of 23 teams from Iran as well as six foreign teams.

A total of 32 teams from Iran in addition to outfits from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraqi Kurdistan region, Iraq, Azerbaijan and Canada are competing at the international sportive event.

Male competitions are underway on Thursday and Friday while female karateka will compete from Saturday August 13 to Monday January 15.

Iranian and foreign referees are officiating the karate competitions underway in the north western city of Ardebil.

Prize money will be awarded to the winners with the champions receiving 1000 dollars.

Second and third place winners will gain 750 and 500 dollars, respectively.
