RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 10 (MNA) – Iran’s Mojtaba Abedini defeated his Ukrainian opponent in Men’s Individual Sabre Fencing at Rio Olympics 2016, while Ali Pakdaman was eliminated from the competitions after defeat by German athlete.

The Olympics sabre fencing games which began on Saturday were followed up on Wednesday in the individual category.

Iran’s Mojtaba Abedini, who had obtained an Olympic quota for the second time and through world ranking, competed against Ukraine’s Andriy Yahodka and managed to defeat him 15-9.

Abedini’s match against his Ukrainian opponent was held in round of 32. He will take on Gu Bon-Gil from South Korea in round of 16, to be held later this afternoon local time.

Meanwhile, another Iranian athlete Ali Pakdaman lost to his German opponent Matyas Szabo 15-11 and was eliminated from the next round of competitions.
