TEHRAN, Aug. 06 (MNA) – Foreign Minister Zarif has received Pakistan’s foreign secretary on Saturday to discuss bilateral trade and other issues of mutual interest.

Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry is visiting Tehran, during which he met with Iran’s Javad Zarif to address economic, cultural, and trade ties. Mr. Zarif ensured the Pakistani official that Pakistani banks would open branches in Iran; “this would open the opportunities for both countries to boost trade across the border and the whole economy; on terrorism, we believe all countries in the region should cooperate in defeating ISIL, Al-Qaeda, two epitomes of extremism and terrorism as the threat to all countries,” Zarif added.

Chaudhry for his part, said that Pakistan evaluated relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran in positive light; “bilateral relations had been on rise in all fields and our firms welcome working with their Iranian counterparts; developing economic ties is crucial for Pakistan’s economy,” he concluded during brief remarks.
