TEHRAN, Jul. 10 (MNA) – Iranian Shahid Beheshti University has set up a Plant Biotechnology Laboratory at the Lebanese University.

Within the framework of academic and scientific cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Lebanon, Shahid Beheshti University of Tehran helped with the establishment of a Plant Biotechnology Laboratory at the Lebanese University, which was inaugurated today.

The setting up of the laboratory was another step in the series of assistance by Shahid Beheshti University in establishing a chair in plant biotechnology higher education at the School of Medicine of the Lebanese University. The measure was warmly welcomed by Lebanese officials, professors and students who were gathered in a massive crowd at the opening ceremony.

Adnan Sayyed Hussein, president of Lebanese University, deemed the scientific assistance of Iranian universities to Lebanon highly effective, and called for the continuation of educational cooperation in various fields, particularly in the area of new technologies.

Lebanon is fully committed to all its agreements and academic MoUs with Iran, he added.

The Lebanese University is the only public institution for higher learning in Lebanon, founded in 1951. The university currently has 16 faculties and serves all cultural, religious, and social groups of students and teachers.
