BUSHEHR, Jul. 04 (MNA) – Head of Bushehr provincial cultural heritage organization office has said documentation of Siraf historical city has been prepared for an application for UNESCO World Heritage List.

Farhad Nazari told Mehr News local correspondent on Monday that Siraf historical city had not received due attention in par with its rich history and city development plans had not been offered enough importance; “development and restoring plans should focus on keeping historical values the city had been bearing during centuries,” he added.

“Preliminary steps to apply for a UNESCO World Heritage Site list for Siraf historical city have been taken with necessary documentation under preparation,” Nazari told Mehr News.

Nazari was critical of the situation for Bushehr itself as well; “Bushehr’s historical texture had been subject to systematic neglect for decades and had been abandoned for good to destructions, encroachments, and unregulated and amateur repair attempts; “despite the damage wrought, I believe the historical texture has a chance of being restored; currently, city’s historical core and its peripherals subject to improvements lack identification credentials, with parts centuries-old suffering the bane of the least attention,” he objected.
