TEHRAN, Jun. 29 (MNA) – Pakistan’s special assistant to the prime minister on foreign affairs underlined that Pakistan highly regards relationship with Iran.

Speaking during a seminar on 'Foreign Policy of Pakistan: Challenges and Opportunities' on Wednesday, Fatemi while elaborating on Pakistan's government diplomacy performance during the tenure of Nawaz Sharif, said Iranian President's recent visit to Pakistan occurred during post sanctions era, indicates strong relations between the two neighboring countries.

Pointing to Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline deal, he said Pakistan is fully intent on the implementation and completion of the project, although there are obstacles along the way.

Pointing to the concurrent development of Chabahar Port in Iran and Pakistan’s Gwadar Port in Pakistan, Tariq said the two ports are not in any way rivals but they can complement each other's capacities.

Tariq Fatemi also said that construction of a path connecting Chabahar Port to Gwadar is on the agenda of the governments of the two countries.

Senior Pakistani analyst Zahid Hussain and former Commerce Minister of Pakistan Humayun Akhtar Khan also attended the seminar stressing the need to strengthen Pakistan’s relations with Iran.
