Hosted by Turkey’s Erzurum, the 2016 International Athletics Competitions kicked off on Saturday with Iranian throwers winning three medals in discus throw section.
Accordingly, Iran’s Mohammad Samimi (65.76 m) won the title followed by the Olympian thrower Mahmoud Samimi (63.53 m) and Behnam Shiri (60.28 m) who stood on second and third podiums, respectively.
Also in Women’s section, Iranian runner Maryam Tousi finished runner-up in the 100m sprint.
Iran’s national team present as the two-day Turkish tournament comprises Maryam Tousi, Farzaneh Fasihi, Javaher Zamani, Reza Ghasemi, Keyvan Ghanbarzadeh, Mohammad Arzandeh, Sobhan Taherkhani, Mohammdreza Vazifedoust, Sajjad Hashemi Ahangari, Mohammad Cheshmezar, Omid Taji, Behnam Shiri, Ali Samari, Mohammad Baniadam, Milad Sayar, Milad Darisavi, Vahid Seddigh, Reza Malekpour, Mohammad Samimi, Mahmoud Samimi, Ali Khadivar, Younes Yousefvand as well as Mahdi Zamani.
