Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of Supreme National Security Council, made the remarks in the first National Conference on Intelligence Analysis Methods held on Sunday in Tehran, adding “commanders had a significant intelligence role in the most important operations during the war, and the most effective intelligence patterns were formed during this time.”
He referred to Operation Dawn 8 (Valfajr 8) during the Iran-Iraq War, saying “a high number of Iranian divers took part in this operation and this was possible due to a powerful basis for intelligence.”
Raising the question on how the Islamic Republic could become an intelligence power, he said “our missile capability is one of the country’s most powerful deterrent elements which is acknowledged both inside and outside of Iran.”
He went on to add, “furthermore, Iran’s ideological power has created resistance and political Islam which have been presented to regional countries and Muslim nations as a way to fight Arrogance.”
Shamkhani further counted the four important elements in the empowerment of Iran’s internal power in addition to its hard and missile power as ‘cyber power’, ‘immunization of the elements of the Establishment against strategic influence as the deadliest form of hostility’, ‘having an intelligence and regulatory dominance’, and ‘preventing plots by arrogant powers and diversion of the Islamic Awakening movement.’
