TEHRAN, Jun. 05 (MNA) – Iranian volleyballers beat Venezuela in their last fixture at the 2016 Olympic men’s volleyball qualifier in Tokyo, Japan on Sunday.

Iran national volleyball team finished their encounters at the Men’s World Olympic Qualification Tournament with a 3-2 (25-23, 27-29, 21-25, 25-18, 15-8) victory over Venezuela at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Sunday.

Even though Venezuela bagged the first two points in the opening set, Iran took the lead at 6-4 while the following plays were a point-by-point exchange between Iran and Venezuela until 24-22 before the set was closed at 25-23 in favor of the Iranian side.

Venezuela prevailed over Iran in the second (29-27) and third (25-21) sets of the match despite Iran’s pressure serves by Mirzajanpour and Zarini.

Iran rose from ashes by playing with a better pace in the fourth set as they kept the lead all through the set until winning 25-18.

Iran opened the final set with three service aces though the South American side tied the score at 5-all after calling a timeout. Finally, Iran scored further points before Mirzajanpour’s hits wrapped up the set as well as the match 15-8.

Mojtaba Mirzajanpour performed an excellent performance recording 20 attacks and four of Iran’s nine total blocks. Milad Ebadipour also bagged 17 points for the Iranian outfit.
