TEHRAN, Jun. 01 (MNA) – Iran’s national junior athletics team left Iran for Vietnam to compete in the 17th Asian Junior Athletics Championships.

A team of 27 athletes, along with coaches left from here on Wednesday to participate in the 17th Asian Junior Athletics Championships to be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from June 3-6.

The Iranian outfit to take part in the continental sportive event comprises Mehdi Rostami Moghadam and Amin Lotfollahi (shut put), Arian Zarakani (high jump), Sajjad Zare and Ali Maghsoudi (discus throw), Hadi Maddahi (triple jump), Javad Shuryabi, Mohammadreza Faridi, Farshad Kordlu and Mohammadreza Rahmani (400 meter hurdles and 4 x 400 m relay), Ata Asadi and Abdolrahim Dorzadeh (800 m and 1500m), Akbar Helali and Amineh Keshiri (Hammar Throw), Zahra Bahmani (400 m) as well as Sepideh Saremi (800 m).

The event is expected to see the participation of up to 700 young athletes and coaches from 40 countries and territories worldwide, including Qatar, Japan, China, Iraq, Republic of Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Iran, competing in 22 categories at Thong Nhat Stadium in Vietnam.
