Following the precious victory over Canada at the 2016 Olympic men’s volleyball qualifier in Tokyo, the Iranian spiker suffered a knee injury in his right foot.
Accordingly, at the discretion of the team’s physician Siamak Afrouzi and in coordination with the technical staff, Ghafour will not appear in the upcoming game against France.
Iran’s other spiker Shahram Mahmoudi is also suffering from a minor injury and is trying to recover for the important fixture.
The Iranian men’s national team is competing at the World Olympic Qualification Tournament underway Japan from May 28 to June 5 and has so far secured two victories against Australia (3-0) and Canada (3-2).
Iran is facing powerful oppositions such as Australia, Canada, China, France, Japan, Poland and Venezuela in the Round-Robin tournament.
The best Asian team along with the three top-ranked teams in the tournament will get the tickets to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
