TEHRAN, May 16 (MNA) – The head of Iranian Syndicate of Medical Equipment Exporters (ISOMEE) has said Iran exports medical equipment and products to 40 world countries.

Mohammadreza Kompani who was speaking during the 19th edition of International Exhibition for Medical, Dental, Laboratory Equipment, Pharmaceutical Products and Healthcare Services (Iran Health) underway in Tehran International Permanent Fairground, May 15-18, said that exports of medical services and equipment had risen to $30mn from paltry $2-3mn annually, thank to supports from Iran’s Ministry of Health; “however, the ratio of imports to exports is still high and potentials of higher exports have been abandoned in abeyance. An effective way is holding Iran Health Exhibition annually which brings together active companies and players in the medical equipment market to exchange ideas and improve interactions with world-renowned companies,” he added.

“Iran’s exported medical equipment falls to three categories: the first category includes equipment produced domestically bearing the foreign famous brand names. The destination is often EU countries especially Italy and Germany. All goods in this category have been awarded CE (European Medical Equipment Standard),” Kompani told the press. “A second category of goods and equipment bears ‘Made in Iran’ is exported to Central Asian countries, Latin America, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria; still a third category include medical knowledge of equipment, with destinations being Germany, Sweden, Belorussia, Malaysia, Czech Republic, and Russia, and which are calibrated, mounted, tested, and labeled in those destinations,” he added.

He also said that a major objective the exhibition sough was to find local representatives in target countries; “this will considerably reduce marketing costs; help by the Ministry of Health and Presidential deputy for Science and Technology which purchased medical equipment and goods to provide financial help for tech companies greatly helped improve exports,” Kompani rejoiced to say. “Add to these trade diplomacy which has also been of great help for medical equipment manufacturing sector.”

“Iran Health has provided us with knowledge of capabilities and arts of other manufacturers around the world and brought us opportunity to negotiate with them joint ventures and sign deals, and a window for potential markets,” said the head of Iranian Syndicate of Medical Equipment Exporters (ISOMEE).
