TEHRAN, May 01 (MNA) – Korean President Park Geun-hye has arrived in Mehr Abad Airport of Tehran on Sunday to pay her first ever visit to Iran and a historic visit also in bilateral ties.

Mr. Mohammad Reza Nematabadi, Minister of Industries, Mines and Trade welcomed Ms. Park on her arrival. She heads a strong 236-member delegation of businessmen and entrepreneurs in a 3-day visit to Tehran to discuss bilateral trade and other matters of mutual interest.

The media dubbed the visit as ‘historic’ where Ms. Park will met country’s President Hassan Rouhani on Monday. This will be the highest-ranking visit between two countries since 1962. Both presidents will discuss other regional developments and international issues as well.

The meetings also will see prospects of cooperation in energy, banking, infrastructure projects, insurance, health and medicine, science and university, and technology; the visits are posed to guarantee signing of a number of agreements in trade.

She will also have a meeting with heads of private and public firms and businessmen in Tehran to find investment opportunities for Korean companies. Korean news agency Yunhap report had said that Iran was among the four largest oil and gas producers in the world and that Korea could not ignore such an important partner in an age of economic development.

Ms. Park will depart for Seoul on Wednesday.
