TEHRAN, Apr. 24 (MNA) – Iranian female rower has reached the finals of 2016 FISA Asia & Oceania Olympic Qualification Regatta (FAOQR) in South Korea snaring a precious passage to Rio de Janeiro.

The semifinals 2016 FAOQR was held on Sunday morning in Chungju of South Korea where Iranian representatives competed against rivals.

In the Women's Single sculls event, Iran’s Mahasa Javar finished second to march to the Final A of the tournament and secure a place at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Javar will compete in the final round on Monday April 25 in an attempt to bag a medal.

Meanwhile, Iranian heavyweight men's single rower Aghel Habibian landed sixth in the semifinals failing to reach the Final A section.

Habibian will meet rivals in Final B on Monday while only the first rower will receive tickets to 2016 Olympic Games.

Being one qualifying phase for rowing at the 2016 Summer Olympics, the 2016 FISA Asia & Oceania Olympic Qualification Regatta kicked off on April 22 in the South Korean city of Chungju and will wrap up on April 25.
